Maybe not.  There may be a good market for archive CDs that include a good
database engine for searching (yes it has to be bundled with each copy).

600 Mb is a lot of content, even with a few pictures.  Creating searchable
archives of data is useful for people with "Pack-Rat tendencies".  Even
with a good "clip" service, one can quickly fill several hundred megabytes
with saved postings, good ideas...Stuff I'll read later.  The searchable
CD makes this history accessible when it is needed, and leaves the
customer more comfortable with flushing the hard drive.

I would love to see a McGraw Hill CD, with selected McGraw Hill
publications in text-only format.  The same is true for Time-Life, and
other services.  That, coupled with on-line access to graphics would be
worth $100/year to about 2 million people.  I have Byte's going back to 1978.
