OOPS, I'm being stupid today.  I was going on memory of work I did with both back in 90/91.  I remembered the 8 bytes, I forgot about the parity bits.

Back in those days RSA was not publishing the algorythm because they weren't sure they could protect their intellectual property rights.

Please forgive my senility :-)
