I am referred to as "Thing 1" and my assistant "Thing 2" (ref. Cat in the
Hat, Dr. Seuss).

Actually we are called Webmaster and Assistant Webmaster. I came from
outside journalism -- graphic design and advertising. My newly-hired
assistant was assistant business editor with a strong curiosity for HTML.

We thought about "online editor" but were laughed out of the newsroom (too
stuffy). We picked Thing One and Thing Two. The boss said, "Webmaster."
