Users of the Web will migrate toward these sites, known today as portals," said Patrick Meehan, research director at GartnerGroup. "In the same way that television viewers are attracted to certain networks for their favorite television programs, Web surfers will head to portals to browse and link to their favorite information sources, such as weather forecasts or stock quotes, or to sample new information sources."

I see several possible holes in their analysis:
1. They are applying the herd principle.
2. They don't look at the application of Intranets as portals.
3. Most users are newbies and only newbies need the type of portals they
mention. Who among this group starts with YAHOO, Netscape or M$?
4. The Intranet is individual specific.
5. There is a new business model emerging that is based on individual,
user specific and PC based portals.
