>From Friday, August 7 to Monday August 10, Southern Africa's biggest
musical happening takes place at Oppikoppi, some two hundred odd kilometres
north-west of Pretoria. Apart from almost 90 bands, four stages and four
days of non-stop music, this year also sees an attempt by a group of 2nd
year Pretoria journalism students to report the happening onto the Internet
as it happens.

The project involves various facets of the so-called New Media including
digital snapshots, the preparation of audio files, uploads via cellphone
and laptop, and an attempt at non-linear storytelling, though the latter
may be more a result of four days of sun, sand and rock and roll than
anything else.

The site will only really start cooking on Friday, August 7, but in keeping
with the experimental aspect of the project, we've already opened it up for
those who would like to watch a site in the making.
