This Online-Newspapers list has been awfully quiet lately! Perhaps like
me you're spending more time outside than in front of a PC.

Allow me to ask the group's advice. I'm looking for names of people you
think are the best to answer questions about the future of newspapers,
and how the Internet will affect them. I'm writing a chapter of a book
(anthology) on the topic of "The Dumbing Down of Media," where a
principal question I hope to answer is, Will the new interactive media
influence in a positive or negative way the future of quality newspapers?
(Is the Internet steering newspapers to be more tv-like or publish more
market-driven stories in order to compete for readers' time? etc.)

My question to you is: Who in your view are the leading newspaper industry
thinkers with an understanding of how technological trends are affecting
the quality of newspapers? Your recommendations as to who I should be
interviewing would be appreciated. (And feel free to answer the question
yourself!)

Feel free to post answers to the list and not just to me privately. Might
make for an interesting thread.
