Just call me Sparky :)

God, no. Why would I want to be involved in a low-margin, hyper
competitive industry, especially here in Montreal where consumers and
many businesses are notoriously backward technologically? I'd rather be
doing database driven Web sites with American clients, like I am now, to
take advantage of the ridiculous exchange rate :)

Now that I think about it, I'd probably be more interested in brokering
deals somehow between visionary local media and ISP's, deals which also
contribute to my company's own interests to boot. Hrm ...

Both Ed and Kevin F. cite examples of ISP's partnering with local media
outlets. Both involve parent companies with interests in both camps.
Someone on another list mentioned that their cable company (also their
ISP) does this to provide accurate TV listings.

Okay, so there's not enough data points to draw any real conclusions.
But it seems to me that perhaps there are not enough compelling reasons
to do such deals between separate, unaffiliated companies, even though
why this would be escapes me. Anyone?

Julian
