Just a funny relevant event on this thread.... The Washington City Paper
has a biweekly column on journalism, which mostly skewers the _Washington
Post_ which I suppose all the local alternative papers do. Anyway, the
writer had a bit which criticized the New York Times for running an
article about the Queens Public Library and its
multicultural/multilingual mission due to the influx of immigrants into
Queens -- because the Post "originally" ran an article about this "first."

Well, that wasn't my recollection, because I remembered reading an
article about this in Cybertimes, which predated the Post article -- I
remembered it because I mentioned it in a posting to another listgroup.

Anyways, Cybertimes ran an article, which the Post NY people probably
read, and then wrote an article, and _then_ the NY Times metro section
wrote a separate article on the same subject -- maybe after reading the
Post, maybe not. (Gordy Thompson helped me figure out this timeline.
Thanks btw.)

Anyway, I worked this out with the City Paper writer, but he never put a
correction in a later column.

In short, online and print work both ways already. And, btw, I think the
Cybertimes journalists, whose bylines I don't see in the print paper,
except when they occasionally get around to reprinting one of their
articles, write pretty good stuff.
