When you ask the question of what matters, you enter the realm of art.

I think it is one of the triumphs of humanity that us people live in a world
where the question of what matters really can be a question for us. For most
people in most of human history that question had already been answered.

You could be more or less successful at playing the game. But the question
of what game to play was not an available question. Not really. I mean
obviously it was for some people, but mostly they got crucified, or had to
live in caves.
