I agree about there being an opportunity for mastery.
But I think that mastery, in the domain we are attempting to work in, DOES
NOT
RESIDE IN A PARTICULAR PERSON.
It resides in the dialogue itself. And the field of relationship we are
developing that gives rise to this dialogue. (Yes, I'm saying something that
is obvious to you, I know, but I thought I would say it anyway).
This is the kind of capacity that a relationship or group of people or a
community can have, not the kind of capacity that can be had be an
individual. "I" have the capacity to walk. "I" have the capacity to eat. But
"I" will NEVER have the capacity to generate partnership. Why? Because the
generation of the 5th field is not something that can be done by an
individual. It is only something that can be done by a relationship... At
least I think so.
This is a bit of divine joke, because we will go looking for the outcome of
partnership in the being of individual, and of course we will never find it
there.
And if we go looking for it in the being of relationship we discover that it
was there all along. And no work was required to put it there.
What we are endeavouring to do here is NOT to develop ourselves. Not to
become masters. We are endeavouring to develop a conversation which is
mastery. The mastery belongs to the conversation and field it arises from.
It doesn't belong to a person talking and listening.
We end up having a conversation here, in which what is important is not what
any particular speaker says, but what is important is the whole clearing
inside of which everything that gets said is said.
And so each thing said becomes CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT.
It is crucial that Vip is offensive. Vitally important that he. It is
crucial that Jean is hurt.
It is an absolute requirement. Its crucial that Andrew writes people off.
Janet is intolerant.
Larry is straight. Ina is Ina. Brian is Brian. Seth is Seth. Ida is Ida.
Its important that people don't want us to make personal comments.
And its also important that we do.
ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY.
This is the way the Partnership course looks when its working.
Everything we each say is intended to empower each other.
And we are empowered by everything each other say.
As Brian would say... MAYBE.
