Editor in Chief, Wired News 
The editor in chief leads a full-time staff of
editors, reporters, and support personnel (and a half-dozen or so contract
staff) in publishing a frequently updated daily news site, covering the
latest developments in technology, technology business, politics and public
policy related to the high-tech sector, and the culture of technology. The
editor in chief is responsible for the news service's strategic direction,
for its daily and long-range editorial operations, and for its journalistic
integrity. Responsibilities include: carrying out and overseeing strategic
analysis of Wired News' position relative both to competition (for
instance, News.com and ZDNet News) and to other Wired Digital properties
and activities. Will be developing, evaluating, and approving strategic
business opportunities such as content partnerships and distribution
partnerships. In concert with Wired News managers and staff, will maintain
a current mission statement and articulate that vision both inside and
outside Wired Digital. Will also be responsible for editorial planning and
participation, and retains authority to direct story coverage, shape
stories, and approve display of copy.  Requires 10 to 15 years of news
experience leading an editorial staff on both daily and long-term bases.

Technology Editor, Wired News
The technology editor is responsible for all technology coverage on Wired
News, the daily news service at http://www.wired.com. The candidate will be
comfortable assigning, editing, and writing tight, focused stories to
multiple daily deadlines in an intense, exhilarating, and rewarding
environment. The Technology Editor will work with a staff of writers and
freelancers and break news to a consumer audience on the technologies that
drive the digital age. Specific responsibilities include developing sources
and relationships in the industry, prioritizing and turning around breaking
news, shaping stories, and assisting writers with investigative pieces.
Candidates should have at least two years of experience working in
technology news on the Internet, a track record of scoops, editing, and
excellent journalism, and a demonstrable grasp on the nuts and bolts of the
information age.

Business Writer, Wired News
Wired News seeks a business writer to further expand our daily coverage of
the companies and people that are driving the networked economy. The ideal
candidate would have two years experience breaking news and writing
enterprise stories about the technology and Internet economy -- including
the software and semiconductor industries. The successful candidate will be
well-connected, versed in financial concepts and market coverage, and
comfortable operating under extremely tight deadlines in an intense,
exhilarating, and rewarding team environment.
