I hope Steve Outing will forgive me for stepping in during his temporary
absence to point out that this is a professional discussion list with a very
specific focus.

Once a month, Steve posts a note that describes the focus and scope of this
list. It is very clear, and those who are posting off-topic chatter (about
Ken Starr, Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, for instance) ought to know
better. Please take the political digressions elsewhere.

Quoting the monthly note:

"Online-News is a public list dealing primarily with the transition of
traditional news media into the online world. While we primarily focus on
print media activity in cyberspace, overall "new media" is fair game. If
this is not what you expected, now is the time to change planes!

"Online-News is NOT a general journalism discussion list. Nor is it a place
