your linux advocacy pages kick ass. i'm going to start building linux boxes
as a side project. i've taken my first step toward becoming a linux guru by
moving out of an nt/novell job and into a sco unix environment doing software
development. once i get to see their development environment, i plan to try
to get them to approve investigating the feasibility of making the code
portable to linux so that the same codebase will compile and run on both
platforms. i would think that the margin increase itself would be an
incentive alone. it's too bad sun's giving the linux community a hard time
with java licensing, because this company wants to port to java in the future.
by the way, here's a somewhat technical question. i've been using the caldera
linux and it uses gcc as the compiler. i installed redhat and noticed it uses
something called egcs(?). i read that makefiles might get confused by this.
what the hell is egcs and what's the best way to get around the makefile
issue?
