Our personal Web Guru, Ed
http://busplan.mexcom.net.mx/busplan2/english/story/story15.html
(he does not know I stuck in this creative effort from our design dept.), told
us over three years ago that this is not an ad medium and he's been beating it
into our heads ever since. I would like to take that a step further.

The Internet is not a medium. It is an extension of our real world and is just
as real in its ability to do things. It is not a place to hang ads in any
greater percentage than you see in the real world. In fact it probably in the
long run will prove less efficient for ad placement. The Internet is a service
platform. Here is a place that you can give service and do things for and with
people 24/7/365.25. For on-line news this is your paper boy, community resource
base, automated classified services, community services distributor, up to the
minute news distributor, etc. New business models have to emerge that take
advantage of delivering service and doing things with others. This is where the
money is and why local and regional on-line news services need to be
positioning themselves to be community service oriented portals.
