I sent out messages this weekend (when most sane people are not working, and 
probably away from e-mail) alerting everyone to the new online-news Member 
Directory. I think this is important, so I'd like to remind you all to 
check your mail from the weekend. 

The Member Directory for online-news is at 
http://www.social.com/cgi-bin/gts/on_member_dir

Thus far, all those online-news participants who sent in contributions to the 
upkeep and improvement of the list are eligible to post information about 
themselves in the directory. All of you should have received an e-mail 
notification that includes a distinct URL with your password embedded, which 
allows you to create and edit your pages in the directory. If you've sent me 
an online-news contribution in the past and didn't receive a confirmation 
message and password, please let me know. (I may not have your e-mail 
address.)

Take a look at how the directory is shaping up. I find it great fun to learn 
about some of the people who I've read about for so long on online-news. 
(And now I know what Sergio Dall'Omo looks like!) 

10 of us have created our extended entries so far, and I'd love to see more 
of you take part. I can tell from the very first group of entries that this 
is quickly going to turn into a "Who's Who" of the interactive publishing 
industry worldwide. It also will soon be the place to look when trying to 
find a consultant or expert in a particular sub-area of interactive 
communications (or someone to fill a new media job). 

So, please create your entry if you are already an online-news Supporting 
Member. If you're not and would like to be included in the Directory, just 
fill out the form that's on the main Directory page to become a Supporting 
Member; a Directory listing is a benefit of being a paying member. (It's 
cheap; $2.08 US a month for professionals, 83 cents a month for students.) 

Please be a part of this. It's fun; it helps to build more of a community 
feeling to this group as we get to know each other better; and the modest 
amount of money you'll pay will permit me to continue to operate the 
online-news/online-newspapers lists and online-news Web archive site. These 
resources won't exist without money to pay for them. My hope is that with 
benefits to you like the Member Directory and other future goodies, 
you'll have the incentive to become an online-news Supporting Member. 
(I feel like a PBS spokesman; but that's the model that will keep online-news 
alive, I hope. But that's up to you.)
