Calm down Jim, this was a targeted bit of information which hit
it's target. There is a big difference between "spamming" (hitting
every newsgroup and mailing list with a "green card" offer) and
generating conversation relevant to the group which happens to include
marketing information.

The down side is that you may get "Tried it, it was rotten" feedback
to a list of 4000 readers. On the other hand you might get a glowing
testimonial or two as well. Newsgroups and Mailing Lists are a very
powerful marketing and market research tool.
