When I accept your http connection, I already know your IP address, and I
can usually get your User ID (It's an HTTP optional parameter). I can
also not accept your connection unless you give it to me. Some http
servers request it and "Stuff it in" back to the client. The DowVision
WAIS server interface asks for a password and then passes the cookie back
and forth for subsequent accesses.

Bottom line, if you want to know something, the assumption will be that
you will ask for more information (you just click a button). If you
don't ask, and I send you extra information or look-up your DNS info.
You are not likely to be receptive to my call.

I have received "Thank you for visiting" e-mail from web servers that
offered advertizing. I asked for more information, they sent more.
