The good news, yes there will be plenty of work.  The main functions of a 
reporter, investigation and follow-up don't change, and you have 
gigabytes to follow up on.  In addition, instead of hanging out at the 
police station all day, you can hang out in alt.politics.republican or 
alt.abortion.
