I would just like to point out that there has been some breakthrough in the
area of "common ground" generated by this list.

There is a movement toward "Mediation" and "Arbitration". Rather than paying
two lawyers to fight with each other at your expense, you can now hire a
company to Mediate - where the intent is to generate an agreement that is
workable to both parties, but provides a degree of due process. The outcome
is intented to be an uncontested divorce which supports both parties, and
the children.

The outcome of most mediations - smaller support payments, little or no
maintenence and for a much shorter period of time, educational funding for
the mother in the form of tax deductable "gifts". Full equity rights to
the house in exchange for "free rent" (tax deductable) to the Mother. In
general, settlements that provide lower tax profiles, much lower court
costs, and better visitation rights.

It appears that some people are noticing.
