I have written several proposals which ultimately led to the definition
of the "Fathers Manefesto". I am also an early signator (as
rballard@cnj.digex.net). I don't agree with the paragraph that says
feminism is "The enemy". In fact, the "Fathers Manefesto" is the
natural extension of feminism's original goal of anti-sexism. The
"Helen Ready WOMAN", described a multifaceted personality who could
"bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never let you forget
you're a man". Unfortunately, this left men with a lack of identity
in terms of the family. As a culture, men split into two subcultures,
the "Fighter/Warrior" with some unpleaseant side effects (beating wives
and children), and the "Worker/Father" who was perceived by the
Fighter/Warrior as a "wimp". The media glorified "Rambo", and turned
fathers into "Al Bundy" on "Married with Children".
