If they really wanted to show some commitment to visitation, they would
tie the child support to the visitation. They would allow the cost of
visitation (gas, milage, plane fare, hotel bills...) to be deducted from
child support payments.
Instead they promise to inconvenience my kids by taking away their
mother's driver's license. In most parts of Colorado there is minimal
public transit, the nearest grocery store is 2 miles away, and the
residential housing is 25 miles from the office complexes. What
self-respecting father can, with a streight face, say "I want you to keep
my kids in prison because I can't see them".
The only "adaquate" mass transit in the Regional Transportation District
(RTD) of the Greater Denver area runs from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Taking
away a man's driver's license effectivly makes him a prisoner in his own
home and empowers him to ONLY commute to work. Attending a social event
past 10:00 PM will cost you a $50-$100 Cab Ride.
Next they will be strapping "prison boxes" to men's ankles to make sure
they don't leave the apartment after 8:00 PM. That gives them just
enough time to do the laundry. This is already a common practice for DUI
(Drunk Driving) offenders. We can also get printouts of their "security
pass" usage to make sure that they are in by 8:00 AM and don't leave
before "6:00 PM". Just in time to catch the shuttle from
Boulder/Longmont back to Denver. By the time they get back to Aurora
it will be about 7:45 PM. Won't it be fun being an electronically
monitored SLAVE?
