Most Unix administrators double as "Fire Fighters" for the development
team. A good Unix SysAdmin gets called in early in the development cycle
and starts pointing the development team at the tools they can use to
forshorten the development time. The actual system operations, and
"statistics management" is fairly pushbutton simple. Companies are
willing to pay manager saleries for SysAdmins because they get value from
the investment.
