Most people don't saddle OS/2 with 10 hot windows. Most people don't put
10 or 12 server processed on their workstation. Most applications aren't
receiving input from 3 sattellites, 2 dedicated news feeds, and 3
editorial departments.
Doing these things under a Unix environment is quite normal. Doing these
things under OS/2 is like trying to tow a 32 foot trailer with a Ford
Escort.
I'm a power user. I can disintegrate Warp in 3 hours. I can blow Windows
3.1 in 45 minutes. I can Hang Windows 95 in 5 hours, and I can turn NT
into a sleeping dog in about 2 days. I can hang Linux in about 3 weeks,
and can solve that problem with a simple Cron job. I can run on a Sparc
20 for about 30 days between precautionary reboots (just to get rid of the
Zombies).
My applications are a bit extreme. My work style is more intense. I was
handling 20 calls/hour and would switch between 16 virtual screeens (a
feature Linux includes by default). With NT I have to "patter" (talk
about trivial matters) until the hourglass or "animation of the moment"
finishes. Even under '95 I have 10-15 icons on the start bar.
