Mike,

As reporter on a title called New Media Age, I'd expect you to take more of
a new media approach to sourcing listservs and discussion forums than
re-posting to online-news.

Search engines are always a good place to start. There's also a few listserv
lists, like LISTSERV@SEARN.SUNET.SE, (send an email to that address with
"listserv lists" in the body of the message), which will spew out a huge
catlogue of known mailing lists.

Notwithstanding, to show that I'm not as churlish as the tone of this email
might suggest, I'd recommend Stovin Hayter's Eurojournalism page as an
excellent starting point (www.demon.co.uk/eurojournalism). It has links to:
Steve Carlson's Online Europe mailing list, a by-product of Esther Dyson's
focus on East European online issues. Send an email to majordomo@isys.hu,
with the words subscribe online-europe in the body of the message.
The European journalism mailing list: send an email to
listserv@sokrates.mip.ki.se with the words "subscribe media (Your Name)" in
the bodu of the message.

Neither of these lists are as busy, as interesting, or as well supported as
online-news.

There are a number of country specific lists which take a bit of rooting
out, but they mainly deal with journalism rather than new media issues, and
few are in English. There is no New Media list for the UK as far as I'm
aware. I would be interested in helping set one up.
