Hello.

Howard Publications, a chain of 17 daily newspapers throughout the U.S.,
seeks to fill two positions for new media.  Both positions are located at
our headquarters, 25 miles from downtown Chicago in Munster, IN.  

1. Internet Technical Coordinator

Responsibilities        Manage newspaper's current web publishing platform,
including server hardware and software, security, backup and Internet
connectivity. Design and implement platform upgrades to accomodate growth,
technology changes and departmental needs.  Maintain existing programming
applications and write new ones as needed.  Coordinate hosting of 16 other
newspapers on our server.

Skills                  Candidates should possess a working knowledge of
Unix, experience with CGI programming in Perl and/or C language, and an
understanding of WAN and LAN concepts.  Strong database experience puts you
on top!


2. Internet Content Manager

Responsibilities        Oversee graphical and content design of websites
for 16 other newspapers.  Develop new information products, working with
general manager to secure resources and ensure follow through.  Manage
local newspaper's web content, including daily news, advertising and
ongoing features.  

Skills                  Candidates should possess a strong knowledge of
HTML, a well developed aesthetic sense, and a familiarity with programming
concepts.  A working knowledge of common graphical design programs (Quark,
Photoshop) is helpful.  Newspaper experience is a plus, and ability to code
CGIs is a bonus.
