We have two new items that are worth a look and perhaps some discussion:

* Our interactive Minnesota Voter's Guide. Actually, Tuesday is the
primary election, so this one is short-lived, but it's a prototype for
our general election coverage. The whole thing is based on heavy use of
a relational database. A user anywhere in Minnesota can enter his or her
own address and get back a personalized list of candidates. We'll use
the same technology to deliver election results as they come in. This
project involved extensive database work in the newsroom as well -- in
fact, the printed Voter's Guide was generated out of a database.

* Onlineidea (Instant Digital Education Assistant), a product of our
Newspaper In Education department. It includes a bulletin board system
just for teachers and links with Elect To Connect, a joint production of
the PAFET newspapers. There's a Web-based Carmen Sandiego-like detective
game as well.
