A new book by (my old friend) Alec Foege takes a surprisingly objective look
at how Pat Robertson has masterfully manipulated the media to build a
far-flung and quite powerful empire.

THE EMPIRE GOD BUILT was just published by Wiley and should be in stores now.
 Very interesting chapter on Robertson's presence on the Web, especially
interesting to folks on this list.

Like Alec's other book -- a bandography of Sonic Youth, believe it or not --
it's complex, challenging, and intelligent.  More important, it avoids
obvious conclusions and sentiments in favor of more complicated and more
intriguing insights.

I devoured it in one (long) airplane ride.  Enjoy.
