As many of you know, the online-news and online-newspapers lists have
operated on the servers of marketplace.com (Cyberspace Development, Boulder,
Colorado) since the lists' founding in 1994. Well, marketplace.com will soon
no longer be available to us (and the lists are being relocated to the
servers of Nando.net -- as soon as a few minor technical issues are resolved).
The founders of CSD are starting a new, more focused Internet software
product venture called Email Publishing Inc., soon to come up at
www.emailpublishing.com. As a result, the marketplace.com domain name is
being sold to the highest bidder.
marketplace.com is one of those great names that got snapped up early in the
game, so someone surely will want it. Please pass along this notice if you
know someone who might be interested. Contact CSD's president, Andrew Currie,

BTW, if you've never thought about the value of domain names, check out a
story in this morning's New York Times about C|Net, which has purchased a
number of domain names from other companies. It's at

(Regarding the list move, subscribers don't have to do anything during the
transition. Your subscription will move to the new server automatically.
But one caution: *do not* use the marketplace.com addresses for the lists
any longer. The addresses for the lists are online-news@planetarynews.com
and online-newspapers@planetarynews.com)
