RSI problems are everywhere, not just online people. We've had "RSI" problems
on the copy desk ever since we had Crossfield. We now have them with macs.

Having suffered from hand problems a couple of years ago, I have some
suggestions, comments and claims to make to anyone who wants to listen.

1. Most of the problems are caused by STRESS more than the repetitive. The
reason: IT's stress that causes you're tendons and muscles to tighten.
2. Drug therapies like Naprocyn, Voltarin and Feldene alleviate the symptoms
and do not solve the problem. For many" Naprocyn causes stomach woes,
Voltarin is rough on kidneys/liver and Feldene will turn you into a walking
zombie.
3. The best cure I ever found: Believe it or not, I've found back and arm
rubs work more to solve repetitive stress problems than drugs or surgery. I
don't mean just casual masage. I mean deep down muscle massages. I'm speaking
as someone who oversees 30-40 people who use the computer continuously under
high stress.
I have friends who have had surgery and the problem usually recurrs. Also,
with surgery you risk permanent nerve-loss damage. Of course, there are the
version of repetitive strain injuries that must be treated medically. Also,
make sure your staffers take breaks!
4. The most recent class action lawsuit against keyboard makers is falling
apart, so be wary, even in terms of workers comp, which has given many people
a huge battle.
