  Hi Deepak,

I've never wired 95 to a Sun box, but I think I've run across your
problem. 95 uses a Microsoft version of PPP that is non-standard
(shocking, eh?). It often won't work with other flavors of PPP. For
example, I built an ISP using Galacticomm's WorldGroup as the main
dialup servers. We support PPP for everyone EXCEPT 95 because there was
no way to get 95 PPP to handshake with a standard UNIX-header PPP. We
ended up having all our 95 clients use SLIP for a while, then switched
to a product called WorldSock that offers incredible throughput through
the use of a packet-tunneling protocol.

  Hope this helps,

  Chris Feola

DA>This is Deepak Agarwal from Sun-Sentinel newspaper in South Florida. I need
DA>help, if you can. I recently got an ISDN line at home for our pagination sup
DA>for X-based applications. I have a windows 95 based PC serially connected to
DA>BitSurferPro ISDN modem from Motorola to ISDN line. I have configured that m
DA>correctly.

DA>The line is fine. Motorola and Bell South has checked and confirmed the
DA>configuration. I can login and use any BBS or go to any ISDN dial-in interne
DA>site but not to the SPARC 5 (having the ISDN Sbus card running Solaris 2.5)
DA>using single link PPP with in our company.

DA>I am using windows95 dial-up connection to dial into this machine. Since pas
DA>week or so, I have been working with SUN Support and Motorola to solve this
DA>issue. I have provided them with logs from /var/opt/SUNWisdn, isdntrace aft
DA>had turned the detailed logging on the system but I am getting very little
DA>success.

DA>We are using SunISDN 1.0.3 with Solaris 2.5. We have CCI Denmark coming in
DA>everyday multilink from Denmark thru their SUN workstation with no problem.

DA>Thru windows95, I get a single link connection for good 40 secs. When I clic
DA>continue and then click OK on verifying username and password dialog box in
DA>dial-up connection, I get rejected from the computer. Previously, I was runn
DA>CHAP, then PAP and now no authentication on SUNSupport's suggestion, same
DA>results with either tries. I am really frustrated?????? Uggh!!!

DA>Have you seen configuration like this..going from windows95 to SUN box. I wi
DA>highly appreciate, if you can share that info from your vast knowledge base.
