Some readers of online-news don't like to receive all this mail in their
box, so the Web site is an alternative (newsgroup-like) way to stay in the
group. Allowing them to post seemed a reasonable approach.

But yes, it is becoming a pain and I've been thinking of dropping that
feature.

And there's another problem I'm encountering with increasing frequency
(sorry for lapsing into list-babble, but this might be interesting to some
of you). There are a bunch of you with multiple list addresses. You use one
for reading list messages, but might post a message from a different account
than the one you subscribed to the list with. Problem: the list intercepts
messages from non-members, as an anti-spam measure. Posting from the
subscribed address is a hassle for some of you, apparently.

I've come up with a solution and will create another list that you can
"subscribe" to with an address that you like to post from (but NOT read the
list). This secondary list will not broadcast any messages. However, an
address on that list will be allowed to post to online-news (or online-
newspapers, as the case may be). Majordomo's list config files allow me to
specify lists of addresses that are allowed to post to online-news.

I'm not certain this will work but will give it a try. If anyone has a
better solution to this vexing problem, please let me know.
