How the Web Was Won

The American Reporter briefly interviewed Lisa Poulson, the Sun
spokesperson on this issue, Monday morning. She told us they had
discovered the problem via Princton's research on Friday, worked up a
patch over the weekend, were testing it then, and would deliver it
Tuesday to Netscape and its users. It doesn't seem like it was as biog a
story as it first seemed, but it did have an impact on Netscape's stock
price. KNX, the CBS affiliate here, was all over it in their financial
coverage all Monday morning. Princeton, Sun and Netscape, however, had
not yet mounted a press release on the Web sites, despite their three-day
lead on the issue. I thought they were pretty lame in that respect.
