Well, as one of Steve's ilk, I have to say that's a bunch of crap. 

Nobody that I know of in our operation hopes the Pioneer Planet (or any
other service) fails or that anybody over there winds up out of work.

I'm not going to share our daily news budgets with the competition, but I'd
also rather have them around than not. It keeps life interesting and makes
all of us better.

After all, if you couldn't make something better than someone else, why
bother doing it at all?
