How the Web Was Won
Subject: Was RADIO BROADCASTS? From: jboe@summitmedia.com (Boe Ellis) Date: Thu, 20 Jul 1995 16:57:08 -0400

Gratitude for the info. I did go get the player, as well as the encoder.

Then I called Sam, our webmaster at Clever.net in Atlanta, to see if he has
the RealAudio server software.

He does not.

"Well," he said, "we tried it out (a 10 simultaneous bitsteams version, I
assumed -- $1,400 + $995 per year) and found the only useful application to
be mono, voice-only type stuff. The music we heard was awful...."

>From this, we decided that maybe a bunch of us go in on the baby-version,
such that none of us turns green when the next technology embarrasses our
investment like a 8-Track cassette at a DAT party.
