How the Web Was Won
Subject: Cyberporn on the pages From: Paul Jones Date: Fri, 21 Jul 1995 11:54:17 -0400 (EDT)

The New Republic (July 24) features two articles by Gary Chapman relating
to recent Net-happenings including the urge to regulate and why it will
fail and the Time reporting job.
"Not So Naughty" is a very good brief overview of the Time situation.
"THE UNASSAILABLE LIBERTY OF CYBERSPACE. NET GAIN" is also available
on-line in hte Current Issue area of:
http://www.enews.com:80/magazines/tnr/

Time has it's own story, as was noted here, with a by-line of Phillip
Elmer-DeWitt which ends with a paragraph regretting that the flap over
the extremely bad reporting job by P E-DW might have obscured the "real
problem" of porno on the Net.

I've been thinking about this and I'd rather have my son see porn than
to have him read much more harmful less than half-truths as if they were
the gospell. OJ made dark, Russian child prostitutes, Cyberporn, what
other faked stories have we missed?
