AOL PLANS INTERNET-ONLY SERVICE
America Online is buying the Global Network Navigator unit of O'Reilly &
Associates Inc., and is planning an Internet-only service, separate from
its AOL commercial service. The move follows a similar initiative by
CompuServe. AOL President Stephen Case says he thinks consumers will still
opt for the full America Online service, as opposed to the Internet-only
niche, but he's covering all the bases: "The only way to understand the
dynamics of that market is to participate in that market." (Wall Street
Journal 6/2/95 B4)
