We've accepted e-mail letters to the editor for more than a year now, and I'll echo
what others have said -- volume is not a problem. I wish there were more of them. We
still verify every letter by telephone although I've worked out a confidential code with a
couple of letter writers that keeps me from having to check.

I get a good amount of feedback to my weekly column (which carries an e-mail
address).

Does your newspaper (electronic or paper), list writers' E-Mail addresses on
columns or other articles? I'm interested in finding people who use e-mail
signoffs to see how much of a value or nuisance it is. The material is to be
used in an article I'm doing for The Business Journalist, the publication of
the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Also, interested in
cases of people who stopped using E-mail signatures, either because there was
not much response, or because it became too much work to maintain. How do
people handle the flow when you're getting scores of responses each day?
Names plus e-mail addresses of people from your organization would help.
Please send responses to dick.satran@rtrs.com or satranova@aol.com.
