I cannot address your MSN speculations since I don't know, but I am perplexed
by your reference to Prodigy disabling their goto/open -- in fact, it looks
to me that they have done just the opposite in terms of allowing web users
to go where they want (granted the limitations of the AstraNet browser, the
14.4 access and some limits I've encountered on transactions, though not
FTPs). Unless you are talking about something else, I was actually going to
compliment P* on trying to make the web available to users without forcing
them through Prodigy's own home page.

Prodigy (for Windows users) has added a jump word feature so that wherever
you are in the regular prodigy service you can enter a URL in the jump
dialog box (or access the web hot list you've developed) and go directly
from there to any site on the web you choose. I think this is even
friendlier for web use that aol's listing interesting web sites in various
areas of its service (though I think a combination of the two approaches
would be good)

It looks to me like P*, in combination with its $30/30 hour plan, is actually
trying to encourage freeflung use of Internet, for some obvious financial
advantages, to be sure.
