The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press are on strike, as of 8 p.m.
Thursday, July 13. On Friday, July 14, the Detroit News put its
electronic newspaper on-line. It had been in development in recent months
but remained under wraps. Most of what is on had been on before but there
was a fresh story on strike, a story on a major thunderstorm that swept
the area between 9-10 p.m. Thursday, and a fire that killed a 5-year-old
girl. Have not seen any promotion on it yet but expect there will be on
the News-owned TV station tonight. The URL is http://detnews.com
