Undernet is actually an alternate Internet Relay Chat network which is
generally stabler and less hackable than EFNet, the network normally
referred to as "IRC". Undernet can be more useful to journalists as it is
better suited to meetings and live interviews.
An Undernet server list is regularly reposted to the newsgroup alt.irc, and
IRC clients for all platforms can be found via FTP at cs-ftp.bu.edu in
/irc/clients.
