My point, too. 

99% of what's on those pages comes from AP and CNN or is 
available from them. In an environment like NCN could
become, rather than have a collection of amateur on-the-spot 
reports (or off-the-spot reports, as in the Kansas and Newfoundland
sites), you'd be able to switch live to an affiliate
report just as you can now with CNN or, with text only, AP.

And you wouldn't need some place like NewsLink or these
discussion groups to post ad hoc lists of site addresses that 
only a realtive handfulof people will see.

NCN could have put up one page, managed by someone in 
Oklahoma, and the whole country could have linked to
it from whatever newspaper they subscribe to.
