Thanks much for the excellent suggestions.  I may be able to pry one or two 
of the old VMS machines from the Tech Services people.  I like your idea 
because it preserves the multiple document access capability we enjoy now.  

I will post a follow up to this saga to the Online-News List as things of 
interest surface.
