Carnegie Mellon University, home to the Lycos Web Browser, issued a MediaWire
release today (wed 4/19) saying:   Carnegie Mellon University  has signed an 
agreement with Microsoft Corp, giving Microsoft a non-exclusive, renewable 
license to use The Lycos(TM) Catalog of the Internet, developed by Carnegie 
Mellon.
    Under the terms of the agreement with Microsoft, Carnegie Mellon has
agreed that the license will include the catalog as maintained and
expanded.  Regular updates will be delivered to Microsoft.  This should
enable the company's customers to have access to the most up-to-date
index of the Internet.
    The Lycos TM Catalog of the Internet is named after a predatory
spider.  Its address on the Web is (http://lycos.cs.cmu.edu).
